Farmer's program
Vidarbha region of Maharashtra state is known as the suicide capital of India for farmer suicides.
A BBC News report records more than 300000 farmers’ suicide in India so far.
India is an agrarian country where 60% of the economy is dependent on agriculture. Farming for the farmers in the Vidarbha region is not profitable due to non-irrigated farmland.
Agriculture in this region mostly depends on rainwater which is always uncertain. We support the farm widows and farmers in debt with alternative means of livelihood.
We provide skills training, adult literacy classes, and counselling to them.
